Surprisingly, many spirits aren't all that high in carbs. And your body processes alcohol a little differently than traditional carbohydrates. For some people alcohol is not a problem when eating low carb, but for others it may stall or prevent weight loss. It depends on your body in particular.

Also the other issue is what the alcohol is mixed with. For example a rum and coke is very high carb. Tonic water is also higher in carbs. And sweet and sour mix is mostly sugar.
